Aluminium Rigids go into production
Following a successful preview at last years’ Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC, and a number of individual builds throughout 2006 Fruehauf is now moving into full production of rigid aluminium bodywork. The “U”-shape body is unique in the rigid market, but will follow the tried and tested bath-tub trailer design, so popular with trailer operators . These bodies therefore benefit from over 40 years of fine tuning and its light weight design offers maximum loads for the operator!
Fruehauf however do not intend to follow the pack with “build to order only” solutions, but will ensure a constant availability of stock to guarantee a 7 day vehicle turn-round time on standard builds. It will of course offer bespoke build too, but hope that with its’ extensive experience it will always have the right body for the market at the right time, whether in steel or alloy.
Fruehauf will be able to utilise its considerable resources, including financial, technical and production, to finish off vehicles to the highest possible standard on-site in Grantham. “Forget about all those stocking charges whilst bodybuilders keep the customer waiting for weeks on end. Fruehauf will turn your vehicle round in 7 days – GUARANTEED – ” says David Stanley, Rigid Sales Manager.
Fruehaufs latest success is an order for 8off heavy-duty alloy bodies for PGC Demolition of Heywood, Lancs. They will be used on aggregates for one leg of the trip and the return will be “muckaway”. PGC chose Fruehauf for their ability to handle a larger quantity efficiently and, despite Fruehauf being new to the rigid market, because its a name that generates customer confidence.
Completed in March, they will be fitted with Edbro CX15 combined ram-tank assembly front end rams and mounted on DAF CF85 day cab 8x4’s supplied by Chatfields of Manchester. PGC’s distinctive red livery can be seen throughout Greater Manchester and the North West and will surely be the first of many in that important tipper region.
Fruehauf will also be showing an alloy aggregate body sold to David Taylor Commercials at the CV Show at Birmingham in April, and the Tip-Ex Show at Harrogate in May.
